The aesthetics major is based on more than 30 years of humanities education and art education in Chang'an University, with teachers from the Chinese Department, Radio, Film and Television Department, and Advertising Department of the Humanities College of Chang'an University as the main body. Since 2011, it has been recruiting students at home and abroad. There are 18 teachers in total, including 4 professors, 9 associate professors, and 13 master's tutors. More than 90% of the teachers have Ph.D. In the past five years, teachers of this profession have undertaken 7 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, published more than 20 scientific research papers in top authoritative, CSSCI core journals, won 2 provincial scientific research awards, and published 3 monographs.


This major focuses on literary aesthetics, painting and calligraphy aesthetics, film and television aesthetics, etc., and aims to cultivate artistic philosophy and academic research capabilities, creating, appreciating and criticizing in literature, film and television, painting and calligraphy and other related art fields, and being able to apply relevant aesthetic principles and theories, interdisciplinary classification and guidance of various types of humanities engineering design and other compound and applied senior talents.


In terms of training methods, team training + mentor responsibility, combination of theoretical teaching and practical links, and combination of course learning and scientific research are adopted to give full play to the leading role of the mentor and the guiding role of the academic team to enable students to master solid basic theories and professional knowledge, basic scientific research methods and skills, and have the ability to engage in scientific research. Students are required to participate in the scientific research projects of their supervisors and teams, the college’s “Youth Academic Workshop” and academic lectures by famous domestic and foreign scholars, to understand the frontiers of academic theories, to conduct comprehensive academic training, and to enhance academic innovation capabilities.
